Living in Langbroich for the month

We arrived at Altes Brauhaus (aka "old brewery") on Thursday morning.  We've since had our first visit to the NATO base in Geilenkirchen (Colin got his German driver's license!) and we are enjoying our very rural surroundings of horses, cows, emus, geese, and goats!  Lola is enjoying the farm life and meeting some new friends.  It is beautiful and green here, and the people are extremely friendly and jolly.  We have enjoyed some glasses of Bitburger beer and have been able to do some home-searching in the surrounding towns of Heinsberg, Aachen and Maastricht.  In Aachen we came across a fall festival and concert in the town square, and got to enjoy some German music.

And we're "auf"! Leaving Georgia!

On September 15, Colin and I are flying to Dusseldorf, getting picked up by a friend at the airport and starting our temporary stay at the Altes Brauhaus near Geilenkirchen, Germany.  We are pretty excited to start our European adventure and thought this would be a good way to share our experiences and travels with our family and friends.  During our first month, we'll look for a house or apartment and decide which town or village we'll call home.  Then, we'll try to get settled and look forward to our first visitors!
